Born on this day, Cale Yarborough, NASCAR driver, the first to win three consecutive Winston Cup Championships (1976, 1977, and 1978) driving for Chevy. Yarborough also holds the distinction of being the first man to qualify for the Daytona 500 at a speed of over 200 miles per hour, a feat he accomplished in 1984.
