William Crapo (“Billy”) Durant of Durant-Dort Carriage Company, Flint, Michigan, took control of the Buick Motor Company, which was on the verge of bankruptcy

William Crapo (“Billy”) Durant of Durant-Dort Carriage Company, Flint, Michigan, took control of the Buick Motor Company, which was on the verge of bankruptcy. In his capacity as financier, Durant at once increased the capital of $75,000 and then to $500,000. From 28 Buicks built in 1904, production soared to 626 in 1905 and 2,000 in 1906.
