William Clay Ford, grandson of Henry Ford, son of Edsel Ford, was elected President of the Detroit Lions football team

William Clay Ford, grandson of Henry Ford, son of Edsel Ford, was elected President of the Detroit Lions football team. Nearly 30 years after taking in that first game University of Detroit Stadium, Mr. Ford purchased the team outright for $4.5 million on Nov. 22, 1963 and officially took over the club January 10, 1964. During Ford’s ownership tenure which extended to his death in 2014, the Lions won just a single playoff game.
