Vanden Plas (England) 1923 Ltd lost its status as a subsidiary company when it officially became the Vanden Plas division of BMC, sitting within the Austin-Morris group. Following BMC’s acquisition of Jaguar/Daimler the previous year, it was planned that Vanden Plas would assemble and trim the forthcoming Daimler DS420 limousine, which remained in production (latterly at Jaguar’s Coventry works) until the early 1990s.
