Valtteri Bottas led home Lewis Hamilton at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after seeing him off at the start and then maintaining a small gap until the end of the race. Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen weren’t too far behind but neither quite had the pace to challenge the Mercedes, while Charles Leclerc could only finish fifth following a qualifying crash and an alternate strategy which didn’t quite work out. The result meant that Mercedes started the season with four consecutive one-twos, breaking Williams’ record from 1992.
