The Road Traffic Act 1930 came into force in Great Britain, abolishing the 20mph speed limit and set different limits for different classes of vehicle. There was no speed limit for vehicles carrying less than seven persons. The Act also introduced traffic policemen, a form of driving test for disabled drivers, set the minimum driving age, proposed a Highway Code and made Third Party Insurance compulsory.
