The New Beetle Cabriolet was launched in Germany. Over 3,300 advance orders had already been placed for this new four-seat model. Starting at 19,750 Euro, standard features included an automatically extending roll-over protection, ESP, four airbags, a distinguished fabric soft top, a centre armrest with lockable storage compartment, electric windows all round and remote-control central locking. The entry-level New Beetle Cabriolet has an economical 75 bhp (55-kW) engine, but the front-runner on the order list had an output of 102 bhp (75 kW) and was priced at 20,825 Euro.
