The great “romantic” age of South American road racing began with the start of the first Gran Premio International. The 2733.6 mile (4409 km) event from Buenos Aires to Santiago de Chili was a rally which was won by Arturo Kruuse of Patagonia, Argentina, in a Plymouth.
