The General Motors X-Cars, among the first mainstream front-wheel drive models introduced into the North American market, rolled off the assembly line in Detroit for the final time. The cars were a dismal failure, despite being a hit in the beginning, as they were subject to massive recalls that cost General Motors many millions of dollars.
