The first British eight second run at Santa Pod Raceway was recorded by Tony Densham. An 8.891/173.16 alongside the Oldsmobile powered Geronimo of Mick Tickner, was the quickest unblown fueler outside the USA at this time. Densham received a cheque for £50 as the prize for the first eight second run.
