The family movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” starring Dick Van Dyke, debuted in New York. Few people realize that the movie was loosely based on James Bond creator Ian Fleming’s novel, that the car was based on the real English race cars built by Count Louis Zborowski, and that children’s author (and World War Two British spy) Roald Dahl was one of the screenwriters.
