The Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos was won by Jacques Laffite in a Ligier-Cosworth JS11. Patrick Depailler made it a Ligier 1-2 finish as he followed his teammate home, five seconds behind. Carlos Reutemann in his Lotus, took the 3rd spot a lengthy 44 seconds back.
