The Batavia Transmission factory owned by Ford Motor Company in Batavia, Ohio opened. It closed in 2008 as part of Ford’s “Way Forward” plan. The plant produced front-wheel drive transmissions for Ford, Mercury, and Mazda vehicles. The facility is now used as University of Cincinnati Clermont College’s UC East Campus.
