Teams from Australia, Germany and Switzerland set off from Geneva in electric vehicles on the first carbon neutral race around the world. The race, devised by Swiss inventor Louis Palmer, passed through 150 cities including Berlin, Moscow, Shanghai, Los Angeles and Cancun before returning to Geneva in January after 18,642 miles (30,000 km) on the road.
