Sir William M. Letts, pioneer British automobile designer and founder of the Automobile Association, died in Llandudno, Wales one day short of his 84th birthday. Working for Crossley Motor Works, he was responsible for the construction of Crossley’s National Aeroplane Factory Number Three at Heaton Chapel, Stockport during the Great War.
