Roy D Chapin, Howard E Coffin, James J Brady and Frederick O Bezner signed an agreement and contributed $1,500 each to establish a firm to produce their own automobile, realised in September as the Thomas-Detroit, produced in Detroit, Michigan as a companion car to the Thomas Flyer produced by the E R Thomas Motor Company in Buffalo, New York
