Ronnie Silver snared the lead from pole-sitter Jack Ingram with 11 laps remaining to win the Mountain Dew 400 in the NASCAR Busch Series at Hickory (North Carolina, US) Motor Speedway. Ingram, who led 188 of the 200 laps, finished second with L.D. Ottinger third. The victory was the second and final win of Silver’s eight-year career in what is now the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
