Richard Petty scorched the field to win the Mason-Dixon 300, the first race held at Dover International Speedway, Delaware, US. Petty led 150 of 300 laps at the Monster Mile to post win No. 96 of his all-time series best 200. Sonny Hutchins and James Hylton ran a distant second and third respectively, six laps down each.
