Piero Scotti (66), successful early 1950s privateer Italian sports cars racer, who financed his racing from a successful import-export business and a mineral water bottling, died. His greatest success was winning the 12 Hours of Casablanca sharing a works Ferrari with Nino Farina. In 1956 he bought an F1 Connaught on hire purchase and took 7th in the International Trophy, but after the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa he returned the car to the factory and gave up racing.
