Born on this day, Oscar Koveleski, US sports car driver. Koveleski was known to many “boomers” because of his Auto World hobby business dealing in model cars and slot cars located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a major mail-order player in the hobbies. He was also known for his Can Am McLaren #54 with a slot car track painted around the body (at a time when advertising was still not ‘acceptable’). He was also the co-founder of the Polish Racing Drivers of America with Tony “A-to-Z” Adamowicz.
