Only cars built before this date are eligible for the annual London – Brighton Commemoration Run for Veteran Cars, first staged in 1927 under the sponsorship of the Daily Sketch. The 1928 and 1929 runs were sponsored by the The Autocar, but since 1930 the RAC has been responsible for the series. This makes the ‘Brighton’, the only annual event for early cars organized by a national automobile club.
