Norberto Fontana


Monday 20th January 1975

Born on this day, Norberto Fontana, Argentinian 1995 German Formula 3 Champion who began his Formula 1 career in 1996 as test driver for the Sauber team and got his chance the following year subbing during four Grands Prix for the injured Gianni Morbidelli. However, the Argentine failed to impress and didn’t get his contract renewed for the following season. He stepped down to Formula 3000 in 1999 and then tried his luck in US-Champcars. Norberto ended up returning to Argentina as a Toyota works-driver in the domestic TC2000 championship.
