Michael F. Widman Jr. (77), leader of the campaign to unionizse the Ford Motor Company, died in Silver Spring, Maryland. Of the “big three,” Ford was thought to be the biggest challenge to union organisers, for Henry Ford’s hatred of unions was legendary.
