Lee Petty grabbed the lead from Herb Thomas with five laps left and drives to victory at Central City Speedway in Macon, Ga. Petty, who only led laps 296 through 300, guided his ’51 Plymouth to a 14-second win over Thomas’ Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Tim Flock, who led 210 laps, faded to a third-place finish, two laps down on the half-mile dirt track.
