Israel’s trailblazing electric car company Better Place announced that it was shutting down, less than six years after unveiling an ambitious plan that promised to revolutionize the auto industry by reducing the world’s dependency on oil. On July 10 an Israeli court allowed a consortium of Better Place car owners and entrepreneurs to purchase the company’s assets for under $12 million.
