Edward T. Hanley (67), former president of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, died in a head-on collision on a country highway near Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin. Before retiring amid a federal corruption board, Hanley had strong political connections with Illinois Democratic leaders.
