Dick Hutcherson held off the repeated challenges of fellow Ford driver Ned Jarrett to win the 100 mile NASCAR GN race on the 1/2 mile dirt Greenville-Pickens Speedway, South Carolina. It was the first career GN win for Hutcherson. Surprise pole winner “Little” Bud Moore ran with the two Ford stars, leading 9 laps when they pitted. Hutcherson got by Moore on lap 48 and he & Jarrett ran nose to tail the rest of the way. Hutcherson won 29 IMCA races in 1964, all on dirt.
