Darrell Waltrip drove the DiGard Chevy to victory in the ‘Richmond 400’ NASCAR GN race. Waltrip took the lead from Richard Petty with 19 laps to go and crossed the stripe 1.2 seconds ahead of Bobby Allison in the Bud Moore Ford.
