Darrell Waltrip captured his first of five wins at Darlington Raceway in the Rebel 500. Waltrip got ahead of Bobby Allison, who was replaced his brother Donnie in the No. 1 during the race, along with David Perason at the line when the final caution came out. NASCAR had to review the pass and Waltrip was declared the leader and winner in the the race ended under caution. Pearson pitted for tires after the caution came out and finished fourth.
