Born on this day, Rauno Aaltonen, “The Rally Professor”, winner of 1965 European Rally Championship, the Finnish Rally Championship in 1961 and 1965, the 1965 RAC Rally and the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally. He was the first Finn to win a Grand Prix motorcycle racing competition.
