Born on this day, Nino Vaccarella, Italian former sports car racing and Formula One driver. After winning the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, the former headmaster of a nearby school became the local hero of the Targa Florio race after winning in 1965, then repeating in 1971 and again in 1975.
