Born on this day, Jacky Ickx, Belgian driver who achieved 25 podium finishes in Formula One and six wins in the 24 hours of Le Mans.With eight Grand Prix wins Jacky Ickx is so far the most successful Belgian Formula 1 driver. His victories in endurance racing are even more impressive. He has two World Championship titles, in 1982 and 1983 and six victories at the French classic, the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1969, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1981 and 1982. In between that Jacky also won the CanAm-Series in 1979. He excelled in the desert as much as on the race tracks taking the demanding 1983 Paris-Dakar rally for Porsche, while continuing as a works-driver for the German marque in the WSC.
