Born on this day, Griffith Borgeson, influential American race car historian, described by the Society of Automotive Engineers as one of the world’s preeminent automotive historians. His most well-known work, The Golden Age of the American Racing Car, almost single-handedly rescued the memory of an entire era of brilliant race car work in the United States, an era whose memory was being lost.
