Born on this day, Eliseo Salazar, the only Chilean to make it to Formula 1. Salazar participated in 37 Grands Prix, debuting on March 15, 1981. His moment of fame came in 1982 when he was assaulted on live TV by Nelson Piquet after having taken the race leader out while being lapped. Today, however, both drivers laugh about the episode.
