Born on this day, Donald Campbell CBE, who took the Land Speed Record once, at 403.10 mph in 1964 on Lake Eyre, Australia, with the Proteus Bluebird and established the World Water Speed Record 7 times. He remains the only person to set both world land and water speed records in the same year (1964).
