Born on this day, Anthony Joseph “A.J.” Foyt, driver who won the Indianapolis 500 (four times), the Daytona 500, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and holds the all-time USAC Champ Car career wins record with 159 victories. He won the American Sportscasters Association Sports Legend Award in 1993 and was voted Driver of the Century by a panel of experts and the Associated Press.
