Bobby Isaac won the Carolina 500 at Rockingham for his 37th and final Cup victory. He led 210 of 492 laps and finished more than a lap ahead of Richard Petty. Jim Vandiver was third, also on the 491st lap. The fourth- and fifth-place drivers, LeeRoy Yarbrough and Dave Marcis, completed 477 laps.
