Bobby Allison cruised from the pole position to score his first victory in NASCAR’s top series, leading 238 of 300 laps at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine (US). Allison, a 2011 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, wound up one lap ahead of runner-up Tony Lund, who led the other 62 laps. Richard Petty came home third in the first Cup race on Oxford Plains’ third-mile asphalt track.
