At the Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama, In his Lotus, Emerson Fittipaldi came from his 4th place starting position to win in a time of 2:03:41. Followed by polesitter and fastest lap man, Jacky Ickx in his Ferrari, 18 seconds later. Clay Regazzoni in the other Ferrari was third, coming from his eighth spot on the grid.
