At the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, Ralf Schumacher got the best of the field from his third place starting position and set fastest lap on his way to victory in a time of 1:30:44. Pole sitter, David Coulthard was second 4.35 seconds behind and Rubens Barrichello finished third from his 6th place starting position. Fourth place starter, Michael Schumacher had a suspension failure 24 laps in.
