Adolf Daimler, the middle son of Gottlieb Daimler who was active in his father’s company, died after a long illness aged 41. Adolf joined the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) in 189 9as technical director. In 1900 he was named a senior engineer, and by 1907 he became the Director of the Operations Department. At the same time he was appointed to the Board of the Company. In this capacity he helped to direct the very successful far-flung operations department of the company.
