Ab Jenkins, in a Pierce-Arrow V12 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, completed the first 24-hour solo run, driving 2,710 miles nonstop at an average speed of 112.94 mph. The following year, he broke the record again, this time shaving behind the wheel on the final laps to look more presentable at the finish.
