A road sign powered by wind and solar power was erected on the A1 near Peterborough. The environmentally-friendly sign, worth almost £20,000, was designed to reduce the number of accidents near Thornhaugh village. A Highways Agency spokesman said the sign would flash the words “slow down” when approached by vehicles driving at a certain speed.
