Sunday 4th April 1971
A.J. Foyt won the Atlanta 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway for his fifth of seven career NASCAR Cup Series wins. Foyt led 205 laps and took the checkered flag ahead of Richard Petty, who was the only other driver on the lead lap.
