Wednesday 11th March 2009 The Toyota Motor Company announced that it had sold over 1 million gas-electric hybrid vehicles in the US under its Toyota and Lexus brands. The Prius, the world’s first mass-market hybrid car, which was launched in Japan in October 1997 and introduced in America in July 2000, led the sales.
